What is the Dominican Republic eTicket?
The Dominican Republic eTicket is a free official digital form that every traveler must complete to enter or leave the country. It replaced the old paper customs and immigration cards. You fill it in online, you receive a QR code, and you show that code at the airport. It applies to everyone flying into Punta Cana International Airport and every other airport in the country.
Important and honest note: this is a travel guide, not the official government site, and we never charge for the eTicket. The only place to complete it is the official government portal at eticket.migracion.gob.do. The form is free. If a website asks you to pay to file it, it is not the official one.
When to complete the eTicket
Fill in the eTicket within 72 hours before your flight. You cannot submit it much earlier, and you should not leave it until you are at the airport. The day before you fly is the sweet spot. The form covers both your arrival and your departure, so you only complete it once per trip.
Step by step: how to fill in the eTicket
- Go to the official site, eticket.migracion.gob.do, on your phone or computer
- Start a new application and choose entry and exit together
- Enter your personal details exactly as they appear on your passport
- Add your flight information, airline, flight number and dates
- Complete the customs questions, honestly declaring any goods
- Submit and save the QR code, it arrives by email and on screen
What you need at the airport
At Punta Cana International Airport you show the QR code from your eTicket at immigration on arrival and again at departure. Keep it handy on your phone and, ideally, save a screenshot or print it in case there is no signal. Have your passport ready as usual.
Common eTicket mistakes to avoid
- Using an unofficial site that charges a fee, the real eTicket is always free
- Filling it in too early, the window is 72 hours before your flight
- Typos in passport or flight details, they must match your documents
- Forgetting the departure half, the form covers both directions
After the eTicket: start planning Punta Cana
With your eTicket sorted, the fun part begins. The most popular excursion is the Saona Island day trip with its natural pool and white sand. For adventure, try the buggy ride to Macao Beach, and for a relaxed day on the water, a catamaran snorkeling cruise. If you want to know what is beyond your resort, read our guide to things to do in Bavaro outside the all inclusive, and if you are flying with the region's low cost carrier, see our Arajet flights guide.
